How a tape was stored, its age, temperature, humidity, how often it was played and the physical condition of the tape can all affect the recording.

We've had customers bring us old tapes containing family recordings, mixtapes and voices of loved ones, only to discover that years of deterioration had already taken their toll.

Some recordings simply can't be replaced.

The sooner you have your old audio tapes digitized, the better your chances of preserving what's still on them.

Those old reel-to-reel tapes may contain recordings your family hasn't heard in decades.

We digitize reel-to-reel audio and transfer the recordings to modern digital formats so they're much easier to listen to, copy, back up and share. Some older reel-to-reel tapes can develop physical problems as they age and may require special preparation before they can be safely played. Some reel-to-reel tapes may need to be professionally “baked” before transfer.

We'll evaluate the condition of your tapes and discuss any special handling that may be necessary.

Old tapes require equipment that's becoming increasingly difficult to find, and the condition of both the tape and playback equipment matters.

Tapes are cleaned as appropriate before entering our transfer queue.

Our playback equipment is also regularly cleaned and maintained to help prevent residue and buildup from affecting your original media or the transfer. We understand that some of these recordings are irreplaceable, and we treat your original media accordingly.
