digitize VHS tapes in Chicago and the suburbs

transfer all those old vhs tapes, pictures or tapes to digital formats

Do you scan photos

Yes, we do.  All slides are cleaned before being scanned into the system.  We can scan them to a file format you desire such as .jpg, .png.  Once they're digitized they can be put on a flash/thumb drive, disc or uploaded to you.

Do you scan negatives?

Yes, we do.  All negatives, (like slides) are cleaned before being scanned into the system.  Once they're digitized they can be put on a flash/thumb drive, disc or uploaded to you.

I have a bunch of old pictures and photos, can you scan those?

digitize vhs tapes video tape conversion Yes, we use pro-grade equipment and software to give you a great set of digital pictures.  Once they're digitized they can be put on a flash/thumb drive, disc or uploaded to you.

Which videotapes can you convert?

We digitize a wide variety of videotape formats including VHS, VHS-C, Super VHS, all 8mm formats including Hi8 and Digital 8. We also transfer MicroMV, ¾ inch U-Matic, all Betacam formats, all DVCAM formats, DVCPRO, MiniDV as well as LaserDiscs and MiniDVD.  If you have PAL formatted tapes, no problem, we do those as well.

We digitize them, turn them into a video file (mp4 or .mov etc) then put those videos on either a flash/thumb drive, a DVD or upload them to you to download.

Can you transfer my old 8mm or 16mm film reels?

Yes, we can transfer those with and without sound.

How do I know what kind of film or tape I have?

If you're not too sure what kind of tape or film it is, don't worry.  We can go over it in consultation.

Can you transfer video from my old camcorder?

Yes, we can transfer video from your old camcorders and their memory cards.  We can also transfer any video, pictures or audio you may have on old smartphones or tablets.

How will my videos look?

We will not let anything leave our studio until we know it's the best it can be. We use state-of-the-art hardware and software to bring you the best digital reproductions of those old videos.

Our videotape machines are cleaned every 25-50 hours of use. For film reels, all film is cleaned before it goes into our film scanners. We use film scanners not projectors and they take a bit longer but the outcome is 100 percent better. All scanners are cleaned after each use.

NOTE: Many of the videotapes are 30 - 40 + years old, some of the films we transfer can be from 50 - 70 + years old. Time is not their friend - no matter how well they were taken care of. They're all vulnerable to time.

We treat each project as if it were our own. We give it all the TLC it needs.  If there's an issue with your video or film, we'll consult with you to chart the best course of action.

Do you offer a "RUSH" service?

Yes.  There is a 50% upcharge for rush orders.

I'd like the video files so I can edit them on my own time. Is that possible?

Yes.  We will convert your video into editable video files.  We can then put them on a flash drive or upload them to you.  Files can be .avi .mov etc.  The choice is yours.

What's better? Transfer to CD or flash drive?

It's whatever you're comfortable with.  Naturally, going with the flash/thumb drive or downloading it from us is the easiest way, it all depends on your comfort level with those terms and how to use them.  A DVD doesn't offer you many options and the DVD is going the way of the dodo.  In the end, the choice is yours.

If you choose the flash/thumb drive or have us upload it to you, you now have a digital copy you can share with friends and family members in those pictures or videos who may no longer live here in the Chicago area.  They can watch them online anytime once you 'share' with them via an online cloud service or send them using a file share service.

You can never have enough copies of your digitized memories.  Once you have it on a flash drive, make another copy, it's so easy and inexpensive once we've done all the work for you.

Redundancy is key here. If your hard drive goes down, you still have the flash drive, if the flash drive goes down, you still have the hard drive. Making multiple copies for yourself is inexpensive and a good way to make sure that no matter what happens, you will never lose those videos.  ALL VIDEOS ARE PLAYABLE ON MAC, CPU and most smart TVs.

How long will my order take?

It always depends on how large your order is, how many orders we have in front of it and the time of the year.  Special holidays are always busier than normal times of the year.  It could take anywhere from 3 days to a month.
